It had been a quiet day for Felim. She had gotten up, eaten, then trotted around the paddock for a while. She had spoken to a few horses, but other than that, not much had happened. If she was being honest, she was beginning to grow bored. That was until she saw Ensi walking towards her. Of all the humans that worked at the ranch, Ensi was Felim's favourite. They treated her gently, and always had a stash of beef jerky in their pocket (which was Felim's favourite treat). She galloped over to the fence to meet them, and Ensi smiled, scratching her behind the ears.
"Ready for training today?" they asked her, and she snorted. It was then that she noticed the thing in their hand. It looked like...a rope? Their was some kind of shiny clip on the end that caught her interest, and she stuck her head through the fence to try and grab it. Ensi moved it out of her reach, laughing.
"Someone's excited. Come on, let's get started."
Felim stepped back as Ensi hopped the fence. They approached her and she pushed her nose into their pocket, searching for a treat. She found some jerky and began chewing on it, but stopped when she felt a sudden pressure on the halter she was wearing. She lifted her head, still chewing on the jerky, but realized something was stopping her from turning it. She snorted, attempting to take a step back, but found that she couldn't do that either.
"Easy girl, no need to panic."
As Ensi spoke, Felim looked up at them. It was then that she noticed the rope-thing. They were holding one end in their hands, and the end with the shiny clip was attached to Felim's halter. Ah. That explained it. An idea popped into her head. She swung around and attempted to grab the rope. If she could bite through it, then she'd be fine, right? Her plans were foiled, however, as Ensi pulled the rope-thing out of her reach.
"Ah, none of that now."
Felim snorted angrily, but decided that perhaps it wasn't worth it. After all, if she made Ensi mad, then they wouldn't bring her any more good food. So she stood still, watching him in mild annoyance.
"Good girl, come on now."
Ensi pulled on the rope, and Felim followed them. For the first few minutes, the two walked circles around the paddock. It was boring, and it made Felim antsy. Ensi must have noticed, because they started heading for the paddock gate.
It was nice being out of the paddock, and Felim had to admit that she had missed the freedom. She walked happily beside Felim, taking in all the sights and scents. She could see the heat markers that showed many horses in the distance, and she hoped that she could meet them. Although, would they be scared of her? She was a carnivore after all, and all of these horses only ate plants. If anything, they were her prey.
She shook the thought out of her mind. It would probably go well; she imagined them as very welcoming. As she pondered these things, she felt the pressure on the rope-thing lessen. Her ears perked, and she decided to seize the opportunity. She bolted away from Ensi and towards the horses, with the poor human running after her.
